Birds of a feather ...

This is not the greatest of pictures. I'll attempt to get better ones once I get the birds in their own home. These young birds are Japanese Phoenix roosters. They are very popular amongst chicken fanciers for their plumage, most notably the tails. These originated in Japan and have recorded tail lengths of up to 15 to 20 FEET! The American breeds don't get tail lengths that long. They can get about I was told at the last livestock auction that I could expect to get as much as $40.00 each for these young birds. An adult can bring as much as $450.00. If I get adults as pretty as pictures I've seen you will find me sleeping in the barn with a gun to protect them - LOL!
